We will be broadcasting an interesting variety for this one as a learning tool. Elizabeth & Samuel will be helping with these bowls. Since we'll be helping Triton with water & germination .. we should do this plot now as well.
Finished removing almost all Western Red Cedar mulch around the ~60 year old Maple tree. We appear to have roots from the Annabelle Hydrangea showing a few inches below the surface of the mulch. Oh well. Our dirt mound will be a better place for the Hosta & Hydrangea roots to reach into.
Next step is removing the landscape fabric. We'll cut out the pieces we no longer want.
We are going to begin preparing the area around the Maple tree for a tall grass idea. This Maple tree will be cut down in the next 5 years, and we will be leaving the stump. As a result, we want to begin building some ideas killed over 10 years in this island. All that remains is the 2x important Hydrangea, 1x Spiderwort, and a few barely alive Astilbe. We'd like to grow some flowers by seed in specific holes in the landscape fabric next spring. Some of them may be wildflowers that need to be planted in the late Fall. We will start small here, but we want to bring some life back to this island.
